Never Trust an Enemy Stronger than You
Once
upon a time there was a foolish deer and a clever tiger. One day the
deer was grazing in a field. At that time the tiger was finding
something to eat. After much toil the tiger could not find anything.
Then he saw the deer grazing. Instantly a plan
came in his mind. He thought that if he run after the deer then he could
miss it. So, he wanted to catch the deer cunningly. He called the deer
from a distance.
Soon after seeing the tiger the deer started to run.
To stop him the tiger said,
Tiger: “Please do not run I am not your enemy. I want to be your friend.”Hearing that the deer stopped and asked him,
Deer: “How can you be my friend? I know you want to eat me.”.
Tiger: “No, no I want to protect you from the other tigers.” “How can I believe you?”
Tiger: “Please believe me.”
Deer: “Why should I?”
Tiger: “Please let me tell you everything.”
Deer: “Ok, But tell everything from a distance.”
Tiger: “Thank you. I want to protect you because I made a challenge with other tigers of this forest that I shall prevent them from killing any innocent animal.”
Deer: “Really, that’s very nice of you.”
Tiger: “When I see any innocent animal getting killed I feel pain in my heart. I start to cry. I cannot bear the scene. That’s why I want to protect you and the other innocent animals”
Deer: “That’s very good. If everyone were like you, we would be able to live peacefully.”
Tiger: “So, Do you accept me as your friend?”
Deer: “I would be very happy to be your friend.”
Tiger: “OH! Thank you very much. You are the only one who trusts me. Others make jokes of me. You are really very cleaver.”
Deer: “You are also very kind hearted.”
Tiger: “Now can I come near you.”
Deer: “Of course. Please”
Tiger: “Thank you.”
Then the tiger went near the deer.
Tiger: “Would you like to have a walk.”
Deer: “Sure.”
Then they started walking.
Tiger: “I know a place which is very beautiful; there you will find plenty of food to eat. They are also very delicious.”
Deer: “Really. Where (it is)?”
Tiger: “Not very far from here. Would you like to go there?”
Deer: “Well, of course”
Tiger: “It’s inside the jungle. Let me take you there”
Then the tiger took the deer inside the jungle. It was dark and there was no one nearby.
Deer: “How far?”
Tiger: “Just a little.”
They came near a hole. The tiger lived in that hole. The hole was big enough to support both of them. The hole only had entrance.
Tiger: “Ah! Here it is. It’s just inside the hole.”
Deer: “OH! I am really very excited to see it.”
Tiger: “Please you go first.”
Deer: “Ok.”
The deer first went into the hole. Instantly after he went inside the tiger jumped into the hole and caught the deer.
Deer: “What are you doing? It hurts. Please let me go.”
Tiger: “You foolish deer. What did you think, I would protect you. All it was that I wanted to eat you.”
Deer: “You lied to me. You were just acting.”
Tiger: “Yes. Now I shall have a good meal of you. You fool.”
Moral: From this story we learn that, we should not believe any enemy who is stronger than us and capable of harming us. An enemy will always try to harm us. And if he doesn’t then it means that he has a plan to harm us. So, it will be wise to inquiry first then believe. We can see many example of this story in different forms in our day to day life and in different countries.
