between them. He has bestowed them with equal faculties there should be 
no difference of opinion regarding imparting education to women. </span></div>

 education is mot a new thing in our country. Islam has encouraged 
education and training to women folk. The prophet of Islam has made 
education compulsory for both men and women. Once Napoleon said ‘’give 
me a good mother and I will give you a good Citizen’’. A good mother 
obviously means an educated mother. So it needs no telling the 
importance of female education. </span></div>

 nation can make real progress keeping a full half of its population in 
the dark. Without the uplift of women’s. The progress of the nation is 
not at all possible. Again without education women can not be elevated. 
So all out education should be imparted to the women folk so that they 
may come forward and work hand in hand with men in all development 
programmers.</span></div>

 women play an important part in mounding the character of their 
children. There is a saying in English that the hand that rocks the 
cradle rules the world. So every woman is a potential mother. A mother 
exercises an unreliable influence in the formation of children’s 
character and in shaping their future destiny. Lives of many great men 
of the world show that their greatness was due to their mother’s 
influence. The things that they learn at home take a firm root in them. 
And it goes without saying that this learning they get mostly from their
 mother as they live under her direct supervision and constant care. If a
 mother fails to bring up her said that it is a mother who plays a vital
 role in forming the character and deciding the necessary to educated 
women folk.</span></div>

 necessary steps should be taken to encourage universal female 
education. It is a happy rural girl up to Secondary Education a country

The necessity of education cannot be over-stated. Education is  one of 
the basic needs of human being. It is also essential for any  kind of 
development. The purpose of education is to enlighten the  individual 
and develop his/her capacity to the limit. <span class="fullpost">It 
helps us  distinguish between right and wrong. It enables us to make the
 right choices in life and to perform our duties properly. It ennobles 
our mind and refines our sensibility. In this way education can really 
remove the darkness of ignorance. Besides, education broadens our 
outlook. It promotes humanity and universal brotherhood. Thus education 
promotes understanding among people of all climes. Education can be used
 as catalyst for a change for the better. Education provides us with the
 knowledge of health, sanitation and population control. It also 
enhances our ability to raise crops, increase industrial production, 
store food, protect the environment and carry out our social 
responsibilities. Thus education contributes enough towards a change for
 the better and its necessity can more be felt than described.</span></div>

Gender disparity means gender discrimination or difference between male and
female in the field of observing rights as a human being. In the developed
countries there is no gender disparity. But in our country this disparity is
severe. It pervades both rural and urban communities. It is especially seen in
the rural areas too much. Many girl students are deprived of getting educated
both in towns and villages. Only boys are allowed to go to school, college and
university and most of the conservative families do so. In many families of
Bangladesh especially of the villages, boys and girls are not treated equally.
Many parents love their sons more and always give them more facilities than
their daughters. They usually think that educating a daughter is nothing but
waste of time and money. After class seven or eight they think that they should
marry their daughters off. Even many of the modern and educated families of our
country do not think higher education for their daughters or sisters. They do
not allow their daughters, sisters and wives to do a
job outside the home. They are kept busy with maintaining different household
chores and bringing up children. But on the other hand, boys or male
members of the family are allowed to go to school, college and to complete
higher education and to do any job anywhere outside the home. However, both
males and females should be considered equal, should be given equal rights and
facilities and should be exploited equally so that women can play a vital role
in the development of the country like men. For this, we have to educate all
females and have to change the mentality. We have to make them aware that women
can do the same thing of men. Like men, women can change their lives by working
with men and earning a lot of money. After all, government should take
effective measures to diminish gender disparity for the development of the
country. So, if we want our own betterment, we, both males and females, have to
work together.</span></div>

Culture stands for the pre-determined notions, norms, values, beliefs, customs,
conventions, music, language and ways of behaviour of persons living in a
particular zone. It denotes what is good and bad, what is to be done and what
is not to be done. It is determined by the society through the day-to-day
activities. It does not stand still and it varies from society to society,
country to country and time to time. We can rightly boast of an affluent
cultural heritage. We have our own cultural traits and its identity. We have
miscellaneous songs based on rural and idyllic pictures of life. We have jari,
sari, kobi, bhatiali, polligeeti, Lalongeeti, Nazrulgeeti, Rabindrasangeet,
marufoti, swariati, murshidi and local jatrapala. We have our own food habits
like rice and fish as well as ways of eating. We have our traditional dress
like longyi, dhuti, shirt and punjabi for the male and sharee and blouse for
the female. Eid, puja, Buddha Purnima, Christmas Day, Victory Day, Pahela
Baishakh, Nabanna and Halkhata are some of our distinguished festivals. All
these are our culture and cultural traits. On the contrary, culture which is
not known and practised in a society is called alien culture. All alien
cultures are not detrimental to a society. A native culture may be enriched and
ameliorated enough with the influence of some alien cultures. But some cultures
have profound impact on other cultures that might be harmful and then it will
be a cultural assault. Cultural assault means bad influence of foreign cultures
on any native culture. In the present global world it is quite tough to impede
this cultural aggression. With the development of hi-tech media, it has been
very easy for a society to be infiltrated by alien cultures. Many of the
cultural elements may be influenced in this way. Our Bangladeshi culture is
mostly affected because of cultural assault of other countries. Our dress
pattern especially for teenagers and young generation has altered a lot. Now
people like pop song and band music sung in the western style and with western
musical instruments. Besides, our eating habits are also being changed. Today
many of us like to take fast food outside home using chopstick, fork etc. Now
our young generations prefer celebration of 31 December to that of Pahela
Baishakh. They never mind celebrating the Valentine’s Day. However, to get rid
of the invasion of alien culture, we should be very much strict to exercise our
own culture and flourish our cultural elements. In addition to that, we have to
accept miscellaneous alien cultures selectively, which will make our
traditional culture more affluent.</span></div>

Bangladesh is called the land of natural calamities. The prime natural
disasters of this country are flood, storm, cyclone, drought and famine. Flood
visits our country every year due to heavy rainfall. It is the most devastating
one of all natural calamities. It takes a serious turn in the monsoon. Due to
heavy rain, most of the rivers overflow their banks and thus cause flood. It
washes away different types of crops, cattle, homes and properties. The
devastating floods in the years of 1988 and 1998 are very remarkable. Most of
the districts in the southwest of Bangladesh had been inundated violently.
Storm is not less destructive than flood. Storm causes abrupt damage to our
life and property. Affected people cannot get the opportunity to save
themselves nor their properties. It blows away our homes, trees, cattle and
many things. But when a storm revolves violently round a centre, it is called
cyclone. It moves at a high speed ranging from forty to more than hundred
kilometres per hour. During the last few years, several cyclones swept over our
country and caused immense harm to our people. Cyclone is a curse to the
inhabitants of the coastal regions of Bangladesh. The tidal bore and the heavy
showers wash away the stores of foodstuff and cause terrible damage. Drought
causes serious harm to our crops and trees. Due to the want of water farmers
cannot grow plants nor can produce bumper crops. As an aftermath, famine
occurs. Many people die from hunger. However, we have to reduce the loss caused
by various natural calamities. Using modern weather forecast, prior warning can
be given to the people who are likely to be affected storm, cyclone etc.
Moreover, the affected people and domestic livestock can be easily shifted to a
safer place during flood and cyclone. Besides, a quick relief, medical
treatment and essential medicines should be supplied among the affected people.
Some effective measures should be taken by the govt. as well as different NGO’s
with a view to eliminating sufferings of the victims.</span></div>

Earthquake
 is a sudden movement of a part of the earth’s surface caused by deep 
crack in the earth or by volcanic eruption. It causes great disaster. 
Some regions of the earth are prone to earthquake while others are 
comparatively safe from this natural disaster. It is now frequently felt
 in Bangladesh. But most of our people are not aware of the gravity of 
its loss. Because of the recurrence of earthquakes, experts have given 
more attention to this issue in recent times. Some countries like Japan,
 Iran etc. are frequently hit by earthquake. Houses and bridges in these
 countries are built shock-proof. Forecast regarding the occurrence of 
earthquake is not possible. A severe earthquake causes widespread 
destruction of houses, and properties. People are crushed under the 
broken houses. Often several quakes hit a place at short intevals. So 
after a quake people live in tents in the open field. When a severe 
quake hits a populous city thousands of people are killed and injured. 
Many people get trapped in the broken houses and it takes age to rescue 
them. The only way to get rid o the ravages of this natural disaster is 
to build houses, bridges and roads in such a waythat they can resist the
 tremors.</div>

Deforestation means cutting down trees in large number. The causes of
deforestation are many. Bangladesh is one of the most densely-populated
countries in the world. Her population is much more in proportion to its area.
This huge number of population needs more food, shelter, agricultural land,
fuel, furniture, medicine etc. People cut trees for various purposes. Most of
the villagers cut down trees to use them as fuel. Some of them use trees as
wood, wooden furniture and some sell trees for getting quick profit. There are
some dishonest people who cut trees in the forests to make money. The effects
of deforestation are too many to describe. This destruction disturbs our
ecological balance. The existence of wildlife is going to be threatened. Due to
deforestation carbon dioxide is increasing worldwide. As a result, the world is
becoming warmer. The sea level is rising and many parts of the world are going
to be engulfed by the sea in near future. On the other hand, new areas of the
world are turning into deserts as a result of deforestation. The removal of
trees causes birds and other animals living on them to leave the place. It also
causes serious damage to the soil, as trees give protection to soil as well.
Aftermaths, the soil gets sediment in the riverbed and causes frequent floods.
So, if we destroy trees at random, one day the country may turn into a great
desert. All living animals and birds will not find any food or shelter to live
in. That’s why they will be destroyed. There will be no rain and as a result
our agriculture will face a great crisis. The temperature will rise and it will
cause greenhouse effect. The country will be unsuitable for living and various
natural calamities like flood, drought, storm, earthquake etc. will visit our
country. Immediate measures should be taken to prevent deforestation. People
should be made aware of tree plantation through mass media. And tree plantation
programme should be extended throughout the country so that we can make our
country evergreen, fruitful and prosperous.</span></div>

Woman is an important part of the world. But woman is not given so much
privilege, as she needs to express herself. However, the role of women in
nation building cannot be denied any more in the context of present reality of
the world. It is not possible for any nation to get to goal without allowing
women to play an active role. There was a time when women were looked upon
without any dignity and honour. They were mere instruments to serve the family
affairs. But with the progress of civilisation, the outlook and the attitude of
the world towards women have changed. This is true not only for the western
countries but also for the Islamic countries as well. And Bangladesh is not an
exception to this. It may be safely asserted that the development of a nation
depends on the women-folk too. A number of women in our country are working in
different garment factories. By working in the factory they earn their
livelihood and maintain their family. There are also many women who are working
in government and non-government offices with their professionals nowadays.
They are working and earning a lot not only for supporting their own family but
also for contributing to the whole development of our country. The women of
Bangladesh are developing themselves in every stage of life. They are now more
conscious, serious and professional. They are getting educated as well as
preparing themselves for competing with the male. The women are now enjoying
their fundamental rights. But it is a matter of great regret that a number of
women in both villages and towns in our country have to face a lot of social
and religious bindings. But according to Islam both men and women should be
given equal rights. So, government as well as the educated circle of our
population should come forward to establish the rights of the women so that
they can actively take part in nation building. Thinking women’s contribution
to society, our national and rebel poet Kazi Nazrul Islam uttered, “What are
great in this world, half has been done by woman half by man.”</span></div>
